Samantha King is a Psychologist who works with canines to provide  Animal Assisted Therapy for children, adolescents & adults. Together with her therapy dogs Sonny, Elouise, Oliver & Isabelle, she has been working with children and teens across several areas including schools, community mental health and private practice since 2013.  With a strong background in canine socialization & training and certificate III in Dog Behaviour & Training, Samantha is able to provide a wealth of information on working with dogs in therapy. Having also completed EAGALA training and enrolled in a certificate of animal assisted psychotherapy (USA) her passion, experience and knowledge of the subject situates her at the forefront of this exciting new field in Australia. 

Jess Hill is a Paediatric Occupational Therapist with extensive experience in working with children on the Autism Spectrum. Jess works with her canine-assistants, labradoodles - Elsa & Loki, to engage and motivate clients to participate in OT activities such as fine and gross motor skills, pretend play and social skills. Jess currently works with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder from her private practice, Reaching Pawtential, in Redcliffe, Queensland. Jess is the assistant director of the animal assisted interventions unit at the University of Queensland, where is also a PhD candidate. Jess has now published several journal articles on her topic and is involved in lecturing and tutoring UQ students. 


This is an introduction to Animal Assisted Therapy for all allied health providers, and students - with partiucular focus for Psychologists & Occupational Therapists, however Social Workers, Counsellors and the like will also benefit. If you are interested in starting your journey towards working with an animal, or just want to find out more about the field, then this is the workshop for you. Samantha & Jess are passionate about helping to build this field on strong foundations by creating a very safe and professional service for clients. This workshop will provide you with the building blocks to start your journey.
Therapy Dogs will be present at all workshops; you will have the opportunity for hands-on learning, as we will demonstrate a number of the animal assisted interventions that we use on a daily basis.

Payment Information:

Payment is to be made via direct deposit, payment is to be made either in full at the time of registration, or a payment plan can be organised if required. Please nominate if you would prefer a payment plan at the time of registration and the appropriate invoice / information will be provided within 24 hours.  We require payment to secure your place in the workshop. All payments are non-refundable for cancellations within 14 days of the date of the workshop. 

*** Please note, Unfortunately, we are not able to cater for individual dietary requirements. If you have special requirements, please email us in the week prior to the course and we will advise what is on the menu for the day. If you need to bring an alternative, there are facilities on site such as a fridge.
