Therapy Dogs Australia training headquarters @ Burpengary, QLD (unless notified otherwise).
Who is invited:
Graduates of the Therapy Dogs Australia (TDA) 5-day Therapy Dog and Handler Course, or the equivalent Lead The Way (LTW) course.
$150 per canine-handler team (includes re-certification if appropriate)
What to expect
5 hours of training and fun! We will start with a group training revision session, where we will continue to work on and improve with the basics. Then we will generally move on to a lecture and group discussion where we will discuss a variety of case studies and animal-assisted intervention ideas. The afternoon will usually include some socialisation, behaviour shaping and/or trick training – you are welcome to bring along some ideas if you and your therapy dog have learnt something cool since we last saw you!
At all of our Group Training Days we do a group visit to a local Nursing Home, which is a great opportunity to support the canine-handler teams practical training applications, as well as give back to the community! It is a part of your re-assessment for us to see you in the Nursing Home, you must participate in this part of the day if you are re-assessing.
Content is open to change depending on numbers, you are welcome to email us with suggestions at firstname.lastname@example.org
