We are regularly asked about companion dog training. This is the training option for people who would like to experience the therapeutic benefits of having a great relationship with a well mannered dog within their home.
At the moment, we are still in the planning and development stages of offering a course for individuals who are looking to train a companion dog. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to be put on the waiting list, so that we can get in touch with you when we have more information about what this will look like.
In the meantime, you are welcome to access individual dog training for you and your dog, there is more info here.
The dogs do NOT have public access rights (e.g. they cannot go on public transport with you). At TDA, we do not provide assistance dog training. However, if you are working with your dog towards becoming an assistance dog, we can help you out with your basic obedience, manners, and problem behaviours (such as barking, jumping up etc.).
Please note: Therapy clients of any of the dog trainers will not be able to participate in these courses, this is due to AHPRA rules regarding a dual relationship between the therapist and the client. Please email us if you would like more information about this.
